The Magic of Tour
In June, I got the chance to perform my one woman comedy show, The Greatest Garage Sale Ever, and two folk music shows in Colorado. It was a wonderful time! While I’m in Colorado I get to visit my mom and friends from college. I also made new friends seeing shows and meeting performers at Denver Fringe, and volunteering at Roxborough State Park. I even helped a very drunk person out of the street after “having too many mimosas at the ballgame.” (been there, girl!) Tour forces me out into the world with open eyes and a big smile. It also invites me to trust other people, and myself, for shows to go well, for things to work out, for places to stay, for recommendations for good food around here, etc. On the long drive home (9.5 hours from Denver to KC) I soak it all in, driving away from the mountains, into the plains and flint hills, and back into the KC city skyline. I’m grateful for the hard work, stress, stage lights, small shows, big shows, unexpected wind gusts, and memories from the road.
Here’s my show set up on stage at Rise Comedy in Denver, CO, during Denver Fringe! I performed “The Greatest Garage Sale Ever” two times during the 5 day festival. My audiences were very sweet. Saturday night was quiet and respectful, and Sunday night was very loud and fun! It was a challenge to bring my show somewhere different, but I’m proud of how I worked through the difficulties. I had a great stage manager/tech (Brendan - you can see his arm on the right in the picture), and the staff at Rise Comedy were phenomenal!
Performing at Roxborough State Park in Littleton, CO, during a concert held by The Friends of Roxborough. It was a beautiful (and very windy) evening!
My last concert of the tour was at Avogadro’s Number in Fort Collins. I got to play new songs from Fumbling with my bass player, Dennis. I feel really comfortable performing here. It’s the spot I’ve played the most over the years and the staff, and folks who support shows there are amazingly kind and cool.
